From I Am to Am I With Love – By Linda Clifford-Hayes

I have just returned from a three-day prayer and worship event in Jersey called “Love Song for Jesus”. The event has been running now 8 years and this is my second time of attending. The event starts from the Friday evening with a welcome supper and then continues from the Saturday morning non-stop intimate prayer and worship until the close at Sunday evening. During this time each church/nation takes the worship stand for about an hour and offers seamless praise and worship to the great I Am, Jesus, Christ our Lord.
On the Sunday about 10.00 am the word for the day is preached. This year it focused on Love and was ministered to us, by my dear friend Robert Weston from Malvern, Worcester*. Robert used 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as his key scripture. In seeing Jesus as all that stands for Love he invited us to change the word ‘Love’ to ‘Jesus’ in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and put the word Am I, or Do I after each sentence to help us turn the light of God on our hearts, soul and mind to truly examine whether we are people who have Love. So it would read:

Jesus is patient, (AM I? ) Jesus is kind. (AM I ?) He does not envy (DO I ?) . He does not boast. ( DO I? ) He is not proud (AM I?) and so on throughout the verse . He does not dishonor others (DO I? ), He is not self seeking and neither is He easily angered (AM I ?) . Jesus keeps no record of wrong,(Do I? ) for He , does not delight in evil but rejoices with the Truth (DO I?) . Jesus always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. (DO I ?)

I have heard this verse so many times before and I have also read it out to congregations (once at a beautiful wedding service), but it is the first time that I really allowed the I Am to let the mirror of his word and his search light shine deeply on the crevices of my heart. Am I patient? Am I kind? etc.

The Lord says in his Word that we should give a portion to 7 and to 8 because we don’t know what evil is on the earth. (Ecclesiastes 11:2) I know many were blessed from this Word and I wanted to share it with you.
