I dreamt I was invited to preach at a black Pentecostal church , looked like a church I had preached at before in a local city, but it was massive and loads of people were there seated on two levels. I sensed in the spirit that they didn’t expect much from me and was comparing me to other more outwardly powerful ministers . I had a sense of intimidation not feeling good enough. I was preaching betwixt and between the two levels . (I know there is a message also in that , but that is not the purpose of my write up just now but note I was directed to the meaning of this much later – see message on Trust at the foot of this piece which is interesting )
Back to the dream …
I didn’t have an outline or any notes or my paper bible at hand properly and this caused me to fluster a bit .
However, I brought a beautiful song of the Lord in the opening prayer and everyone was singing the song that the Lord had brought (even those that had never sung in the spirit and despite their initial low expectation). We were glorifying and lauding Jehovah in such a beautiful rhythm and each time I commenced, a new verse came , but I can’t remember the song right now .
These two scriptures came in my preach :
God hath spoken once;
twice have I heard this;
that power belongeth unto God.
For in him we live, and move, and have our being Acts 17:28(a)
But the invite to preach had taken me by surprise and I was ashamed that I was rusty & wasn’t ready . I was concerned I didn’t know where the above scriptures were in the bible to quote the reference exactly , (although I use them often ). I ended the preach early. I couldn’t judge if people could tell, I was ill-prepared (and I knew it ), but I also didn’t want to run over time .
End of dream
I got up just now to study . I realise I must prepare to be called and although I know many scriptures I can’t always site where they are and I feel the Holy Spirit saying I must study more & remedy this. I think half my problem is I have moved from my ‘seasoned’ ‘written all over’ paper bible to electronic – I need my paper bible as my primary source.
The bible says :
Study to show thy self approved unto God a workman needing not to be ashamed , rightly dividing the word of truth . 2 Timothy 2:15
The beauty of the dream and the
Psalms scripture is I heard it audibly in the throne room of God many years ago (about 2008)
as I slept and like a boom it sounded ancient as if an old prophet was saying it -I think Haggai or Hosea as that is what my spirit recorded, but it is recorded in Psalms & spoken by David.
I also now understand, the dream pointing to a spirit of fear and intimidation ie me trying to fit in and to please men .
God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind .
It also says :
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Everyone’s ministry is unique and my ministry includes ministering in song and intercession and ‘in the spirit …. ‘ I need not be uncomfortable about that. I feel the Lord is reminding me this is where the power and unction lies in how he has ‘dipped’ and called me but as I write may be a reminder and encouragement for others .
Sharing with those who understand my heart .
Pray for me for greater discipline in study and to be ready at all times to give an answer to the reason of hope .
Pray for greater boldness using the gifts he has given and to continue to praise , pray and preach in the spirit and without excuse.
Just after midnight …
Revelation received on lesson on trust as I wrote up this dream – note the ‘two levels’ of people which highlights the two levels seen in the dream earlier .
Four Lessons on Trust – taken from Dake study notes.
(1) Don’t trust in people of low degree, for they cannot help. They may be willing, but they have no ability to help (Ps. 62:9). Don’t trust in people of high degree–the ungodly rich–for they promise much but perform nothing. They cause you to hope, but mock at your expectation. Hence, both those who are common and the ungodly rich are lighter than vanity, for they disappoint people who put their trust in them.
(2) Don’t trust in oppression and robbery, for oppression will not succeed and ill-gotten gain will not prosper. God will soon scatter the oppressors and curse property acquired by robbery. He will reward every man according to his deeds (Ps. 62:11-12).
(3) Trust in God at all times, for He is a true trust and a safe refuge (Ps. 62:8).
I love how the Lord speaks and ministers . May His Name forever be praised .
