WEEPING MAY REMAIN FOR A NIGHT, BUT REJOICING COMES IN THE MORNING (Psalm 30:5)

I write this days after my late mothers funeral Evangelist Linda J.

I have encountered a glimpse of grief before, after the death of my sister Luisha. I was a lot younger then and I remember asking God why? And I was rather angry at God for taking my sister away from me.

Now I am older I understand that there is ‘a time to be born and a time to die’ (Ecclesiastes 3:2-9). Meaning we all have a selected time on this earth, every moment and season we have on this earth is ordained. Our destiny is designed by our maker.

It is crucial that we do not waste the time we have been given, but ‘redeeming the time, because the days are evil’ (Ephesians 5:16). We must apply the message from The Parable of The Talents, to not squander the talents/gifts He has blessed us with and use them for His Glory.

I thank God for my mothers life, the lives she has touched and the legacy she has left behind. She has completed her assignment and run her own race. My mother, Linda gave her life to Jesus, repented, became baptised and now saved. She has been a good and faithful servant and entered ‘into the joy of thy lord’ (Matthew 25:23), rejoicing with the saints.

There is an assurance that I will see her again ‘according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness’ (2 Peter 3:13).

Unfortunately many deal with grief in different ways to numb the pain, I know that there is a relief through prayer and going into the arms of my Heavenly Father. The Bible tell us ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted’ (Matthew 5:4).

In the Book of John (11:35) we learn that Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus.

It is important to let the emotions out and to heal. Knowing that Jesus is our only and everlasting comforter.

Although it is difficult to understand why things happen, God ‘knows the end from the beginning’ (Isaiah 46:10) and ‘will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear’ (1 Corinthians 10:13) and ‘loves you with an everlasting love’ (Jeremiah 31:3).

There is no time limit on grief and the sadness I feel but my faith in Jesus brings me peace and joy.

Prayer

Father in the Name of Jesus,

I thank you Lord that you comfort those that mourn

Be close to us, those in broken heart

Thank you Lord for the support of family, friends and prayers

Help us Lord as we mourn the loss of a loved one,

Let us trust in you and lean on you, make our paths straight

Help us to understand your will and know that you are in control,

Thank you Lord that you are our shield and rock of refuge

Touch all who are struggling,

Let us not stumble or fall

I pray Lord that one day,we will see our loved one again in your Kingdom

Let us serve you Lord completely and remain faithful

Help us to prepare for your return,

Save us again if we are lost, bring us back into your arms

Thank you Lord that you love us and have good plans for us

Let us honor and use the gifts you have blessed us with

Help us to use our time wisely,

Let all become saved and receive your free gift of salvation

Let us continue to love one another, unite families and strengthen us

Thank you Lord that you are our Redeemer,

Wipe our tears and bring us your joy and hope

In your precious Holy Name,

Amen.

  1. Jaeger beautifully written, you have been so strong throughout this season and your strong faith and belief in God will get you through this difficult time.

    Psalm 30:5
Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.

We know that God is our refuge and our strength an ever present help in times of need.

Continue to run your race and may God continue to direct and order your steps.

  2. Dearest Jaeger, good morning dearest & welcome to God’s new day!
When I first woke this morning just before 4:30am, you were on my heart… I told myself I must contact you & fell back to sleep. And the first message I read when I woke again was from you Praise God!

I thank God that He has been taking care of you as He continues to comfort you 2Corinthians 1:3 so that you too may be a comfort & encouragement to others just as you are doing now. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

As I read your Devotional it warmed my heart as I not only was reminded of your mother’s words of encouragement, but more importantly seeing prayers answered as you step out into your God-given gift to encourage & spur orhers on too ♡

You are created in God’s amazing image dearest Jaeger Genesis 1:,27 with His Son’s gentle character of love & compassion you show to others & the Power of God’s Spirit at work in you Philippians 2:13.

I pray many people will be comforted, strengthened & encouraged as they read your Devotional & share with others as I too already have one dear friend with whom I shall be sharing it with as I pray that they may find God’s comfort & strength thru your words ♡

Thank you again Jaeger & I hope & pray to be able to read more of your words of encouragement, whereever God is leading or already led you to. 🙏🏾

    All my love & God’s always 💞
