Space for Reflection

There is beauty in having time for reflection; often, these are the times when God speaks to us, where we can receive a word and hear His voice.

It is beautiful to hear from the living God. He is not dead like the other Gods, but He is living and ALIVE.

He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore (Hebrews 13:8).

He speaks if you allow time to hear His voice.

Sometimes it can be hard to hear God’s voice when we’re occupied, but we must make room and make time.

If we are so busy and caught up in our lives, will we miss when God is speaking?

Are we spending our time wisely?

At this time of year, many people are rushing around buying gifts for their loved ones.

We can forget the real meaning of the season.

Do we make ourselves available to our Heavenly Father?

Or do we need to check our priorities?

Jesus says in John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, they follow me“.

Do you know His voice?

It is easy to listen and focus on the voices around us, but in this next season, I want to encourage you to listen to the voice of God.

I am an overthinker. I admit that at times, I do have a battle with my mind. My Mum used to say, “Jaeger, I can hear you thinking“.

Are our minds fixed on the things of God?

Your thoughts should not overpower His voice.

Are they things you should not be concerned about?

Colossians 3:2 says “set your minds on things above, not on earthly things”.

Sometimes we need to slow down our minds and be still.

Trusting in the sovereignty of God.

The bible talks about being transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2).

May God renew our minds continually, and may we see and hear what He wants us to.

Allowing God to change and shape our perspective.

Removing the negative thoughts, cancelling the lies of the enemy and remaining fixed on His truth and goodness.

We need to PAUSE, now and again.

In the job I do, constant evaluation enables reflection, learning from past mistakes, and supporting growth.

If we don’t allow time to reflect, we cannot see areas we need to improve.

Or become in the fullness of who God created us to be.

We often see the word SELAH in scripture; it means to pause or reflect.

Sometimes we want to run ahead of God, but before we make a big decision, we can pause.

Reflection brings clarity.

Sometimes God is causing us to take a step back to reflect so we can see things more clearly.

When we are in the middle of something, often we cannot see, but when we take a step back, things become more visible.

In today’s world, there is much ‘white noise‘. This can come from many things, including those around us.

We may have to switch off that TV.

We may have to silence that phone call.

In today’s world, we can get so caught up in politics.

Certain things can steal our time and waste our energy.

The Bible says, ‘redeeming the time, because the days are evil’ (Ephesians 5:16).

We must remove every white noise from our lives and come back to Him.

Removing every distraction and everything that becomes an idol that keeps us from being at His feet.

Are we truly living the life that God is calling us to live?

Many Christians around the world, in particular in Nigeria, are being persecuted for their faith.

Do we really see the signs of the times?

Are we obeying the voice of God?

Are we remaining obedient to His call?

Are we involving ourselves in things we should not be?

Do we need to reflect, pause, and make a change?

PRAYER

Father in the Name of Jesus

We give you thanks and praise for this day you have made.

Cleanse and purify us again today.

Oh Lord.

May we know and hear your voice.

Focus on yours and yours alone.

May we have time to pause?

May we have time to reflect.

Let us put you first.

Oh God.

Reflecting on your goodness and faithfulness.

Let us continue to grow,

Shape us, mould us.

Fill us afresh with your Holy Spirit.

Change our perspective, renew our minds.

Still our thoughts

May we live a life that obeys you.

Living a life pleasing to you.

Let us spend our time wisely.

Remove every distraction,

Remove every obstacle.

We cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalted against the knowledge of you (2 Corinthians 10:5).

We cancel every lie of the enemy.

Help us to see more clearly.

Give us clarity.

May we see the signs of the times.

May we not be preoccupied.

Fix our agenda.

Let us obey your call.

Speak to us in this hour.

May we never neglect your presence.

Let us continually seek your face.

We look to you, and we lean on you.

We give you thanks and praise,

In your precious Holy Name.

 Amen.
